The UCMJ is based on the constitution. It was enacted in 1950 and became effective in 1951. It has been ameded since then with major changes in 1968 and 1983. It is implemented through the executive orders of the President. Those orders form a comprehensive volume of law known as the Manual for Courts-Martial. The UCMJ is usually revised due to changes in the amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Military vitizens have the same rights afforded to U.S. citizens by the U.S. Constitution.
